Love yourself, love others, love the planet. Help us do more than just go green.
Together we can make a difference. With your help, our valued customer, we can awaken ourselves and others to our power to care for the planet and brighten the future of those we love. The little things in life add up, let’s start today.
We’re not simply announcing that we’re going green, rather we are making a pledge to serve the earth every day as if it is a valued customer. Just like our commitment to you.
OUR MANIFESTO
We at Crumbs believe in creating a sustainable future for our children and our planet. Together we can make a difference because we are all connected to each other and to our planet. We support a greener environment and are dedicated to reducing waste, pollution and energy consumption. We strive to reuse what we have, recycle when we can, conserve whenever possible and comply with all environmental regulations. We try to buy and use environmentally friendly products and locally grown ingredients. We hope to educate our employees, customers and other businesses on our efforts.
MIA’S PROMISE
My promise is to lead Crumbs’ commitment to creating a sustainable future. In honor of Earth Day this April 22nd I will begin sharing energy efficient baking tips on our website and continually update you with other ideas on how we can value our planet just with simple actions. Our company wide initiatives also include reducing our carbon footprint and making our stores more energy efficient, sourcing local ingredients and introducing eco-friendly packaging. This is just the beginning of the celebration.

Simple Ways To Help Save Energy!
Use Silicone Baking Sheets and Cups. Instead of wasting parchment paper and paper baking cups, opt for reusable silicone sheets and cute silicone cups.
Don't Peek! Opening the oven while baking lets heat rush out making the oven work harder to maintain baking temperature. Use the oven window!
Use Catch Pans. When baking something messy (like a bubbly cobbler) always place a baking dish on a rimmed sheet tray to keep the bottom of the oven clean.
Make Your Own Cleaning Products. Baking soda, lemon joice, water and vinegar are common at home/natural cleaning agents.
Reusable Shopping Bags. Bring your own reusable bags to the market.
Check back for more tips next month!
Don't pre-heat oven too far in advance. Oven should take only 10 minutes to heat and some recipes (especially certain breads) can start in a cold oven.
Glass/Pyrex baking dishes will heat faster and distribute heat more evenly and efficiently. Also consider glass/pyrex dishes with reusable covers to cut the cost and waste of plastic wrap.
Bake/prepare smaller dishes. Small batches of cookies, cakes or individual casseroles can bake in a toaster oven.
Clean as you go! A clean oven is an efficient oven. Maintaining a clean oven will help you avoid the energy wasting cleaning cycle.
Source local products when you can!
